Pats-Jets Spread Opens at an Outrageous 16.5 Points

The 12-2 Patriots will host the 4-10 Jets this week and New York definitely has a chance to win – or that’s probably what Todd Bowles is telling his players as they march the green mile to Foxborough on Saturday. This line opened with the Pats laying 16.5 points and has a chance to climb to an astronomical number. If New England loses this game, I know nothing and my entire existence is pointless – the real question is whether they will cover.

SHARK BITES
  • The Jets are 2-9 SU in their last 11 games against the Patriots.
  • The Patriots are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games as favorite.
  • The Jets are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games against the Patriots.

It’s hard to go against the Pats in this one, even if their spread closes as the biggest this season. Foxborough has been a winning and covering sanctuary for New England this year and the Jets have seemingly given up.

The 22-17 defeat they suffered to the Pats in late November used up what little gas the J-E-T-S had left in their tank and the runaway New England freight train, conducted by Bill Belichick, is still chugging along at full steam. The most the Jets can hope for in this one is that they get their jalopy off the tracks before the Pats plow through them and leave Todd Bowles’ job in the wake of the destruction.

This is a “figure some shit out” game for the Pats. Their offense has been sputtering a little – by Belichick standards – and they’ll likely want to break out of their short slump heading into the final game of the regular season against a Dolphins team that has historically given the Pats a ton of trouble in Miami.

If I haven’t made my opinion crystal clear, I expect the Patsies to roll the Jets and take all their presents on this Christmas Eve matchup.
