The Chargers host the Giants in Week 14 NFL action.

Chargers Heavily Favored Against Injury-Riddled Giants

The Los Angeles Chargers (7-5 SU, 6-6 ATS) are 4-0 SU and ATS in their last four games against the New York Giants (4-8, 6-6). The Chargers will have a big spread to cover Sunday afternoon as they look to extend their win and cover streak against the Giants to five games.

New York News & Notes

Mike Glennon got the start at quarterback in place of Daniel Jones in Sunday’s game against Miami. Glennon went 23-for-44 for only 187 passing yards with an interception and no touchdowns in New York’s 20-9 loss to the Dolphins. The Giants are now 1-2 SU and ATS over their last three games and have scored only 32 total points (10.7 points per game) over that stretch.

To make matters worse, Glennon suffered a concussion toward the end of the game against Miami and Jones is listed as doubtful on Sunday with a neck injury. If Glennon is unable to clear concussion protocol before the game against the Chargers, Jake Fromm will be forced into the starter role. Fromm was signed off the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad last week and has never played in an NFL game.

Los Angeles News & Notes

Justin Herbert went 26-for-35 with 317 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Los Angeles’s 41-22 upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals as 3-point road underdogs last Sunday.

Herbert has had his ups and downs this season, but the numbers speak for themselves: He ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards with 3,547, third in touchdown passes with 27 and first in adjusted quarterback rating (QBR) with a 67.3. The 23-year-old is on the verge of being elite.

And the Chargers need him to be if they hope to make the playoffs and do any damage in them. Los Angeles ranks 22nd in rushing offense (101 yards per game) and 27th in scoring defense (26.3 points allowed per game). The team’s success has been entirely on Herbert’s shoulders all season long.

How New York Will Cover

The Giants defense is going to have to have an excellent game to lead New York to a cover. Whether it’s Jake Fromm or Mike Glennon under center, the Giants aren’t likely to score much as Los Angeles should be able to comfortably load the box to contain Saquon Barkley.

How Los Angeles Will Cover

The Chargers rank 31st in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 141.2 rushing yards per game. In a game where they shouldn’t have to worry about the passing attack, the Bolts should sell out against the run and force New York’s passing game to beat them. The Giants won’t be able to keep up if Herbert has a big game.
