The Giants and Eagles face off in NFL action at Philly

Eagles Host Giants With Sights Set On The Playoffs

The Philadelphia Eagles (7-7 SU, 7-6-1 ATS) have their eyes on a playoff spot after a win over the Washington Football Team on Tuesday night. The Eagles will be looking for revenge Sunday when they host the New York Giants (4-10, 6-8), who are on a three-game slide and haven’t won since beating Philadelphia in Week 12.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Eagles opened as 9-point favorites and had been bet up to Philadelphia -10 by Wednesday morning. The total was set at 43.5 and saw considerable movement. It was down to 40.5 at many spots but ranged all the way up to 42.

New York News & Notes

New York’s offense was held to six points against the Cowboys in Week 15, failing to score a touchdown for the second time in three games. With Daniel Jones shut down for the remainder of the season, Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm are the alternatives at quarterback.

Fromm will likely start against the Eagles after relieving Glennon during the Dallas game. He completed half of his 12 pass attempts for 82 yards without a touchdown or interception. Glennon had gone 13-for-24 for 99 yards while serving up three picks.

Saquon Barkley had 50 yards rushing on 15 carries against the Cowboys and has now gone six straight games without a touchdown.

In Week 12, the New York defense came up big in the 13-7 victory over the Eagles, limiting Jalen Hurts to 129 yards passing and intercepting him three times.

Philadelphia News & Notes

Jalen Hurts and Dallas Goedert stole the show in a 27-17 victory over Washington. Returning from an ankle injury, Hurts completed 20 of 26 passes for 296 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception. Seven of those completions landed in the hands of Goedert, who eclipsed the century mark for the second straight game with 135 receiving yards.

Miles Sanders is also trending upward. The running back rumbled for 131 yards against Washington for his second consecutive outing of more than 120 yards.

Philadelphia ran for 238 yards and outgained Washington 519-237 in total yards. The Eagles lead the NFL in averaging 165.6 yards on the ground and face a Giants defense that is 26th in the league against the run, allowing 125.0 yards per game.

How New York Will Cover

Jake Fromm would have to put on a decent display for the Giants to have a chance at repeating a shock victory over the Eagles. Philadelphia does a solid job against the run, meaning Fromm will likely have to produce some magic through the air for the Giants to cover.

How Philadelphia Will Cover

The playoffs are within reach and the offense is in fine form. If the Eagles can manage to round out their game on defense, they will be a real threat. Look for Philadelphia to stick to a run-heavy game plan at home.
