  • The New York Giants (1-1 SU, 0-2 ATS) try to build on Sunday’s huge comeback in Arizona when they take on the San Francisco 49ers (2-0, 1-1) on Thursday Night Football.

    New York overcame a 21-point deficit in the second half to square its record at 1-1 with a 31-28 win over the Cardinals, while the 49ers are coming off a 30-23 victory over the division rival Rams. The Giants have lost their last seven appearances on Thursday Night Football and are a dismal 1-13 SU in their last 14 primetime contests.

    Latest Betting Notes: Giants

    To say it’s been an up and down season so far for the Giants would be an understatement. After being outscored 60-0 in its first six quarters of the campaign, New York roared back from a 21-point deficit to beat the Cardinals 31-28 Sunday in Arizona.

    Quarterback Daniel Jones sparked the comeback by throwing for 259 yards in the second half alone, helping the Giants score on all five of their possessions after the intermission. However, the victory may have come at a cost as Saquon Barkley appeared to sprain his ankle late in the contest, an injury that could sideline him for Thursday Night Football.

    Latest Betting Notes: 49ers

    Even after winning last week for the 14th time in their last 15 games, the 49ers are promising a better effort on Thursday night. “We missed a lot of opportunities,” receiver Deebo Samuel told the Associated Press after Sunday’s 30-23 victory over the Rams. “I’ve got to be better,” added quarterback Brock Purdy, who misfired on several easy deep throws.

    San Francisco did struggle to pull away from the Rams, trailing LA 17-10 late in the first half, but still would have covered for the 11th time in 14 games if it weren’t for a controversial last-second field goal by LA. Christian McCaffrey played every snap en route to a 116-yard performance and rookie kicker Jake Moody remained perfect on the season with three field goals, including a 57-yarder.

    Now the 49ers return home where they’ve won eight straight and covered each of their last seven. Much of that domination has come against conference opponents, with the Niners going 10-1 SU and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 versus the NFC.

    The Keys to Victory: Giants

    The Giants seem to play their best football when everyone is counting them out, covering eight of their last 11 on the road and 11 of their last 15 as an underdog. To improve on those statistics, New York simply has to get off to a better start after getting outscored 46-0 in the first half so far this season. Jones should have plenty of confidence after his huge second half against Arizona, finally showing some chemistry with new tight end Darren Waller, and his scrambling ability could help the Giants make up for a banged-up Barkley.

    The Keys to Victory: 49ers

    San Francisco’s defense likes to flex in primetime, helping the Niners go UNDER the total in seven of their last eight under the lights. The 49ers’ pass rush should be able to get plenty of pressure on Jones behind a New York offensive line that could be missing several starters. Offensively, don’t be surprised to see San Francisco keep things simple on a short week and hand the ball to McCaffrey against a Giants defense that is allowing nearly five yards per carry this season.
