Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The spread and total have both remained steady in this matchup with Washington going off as a 3-point home favorite and the total sitting at 41.5 points. The Giants are 10-4 SU in their last 14 road games against Washington and 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games overall vs their division rival.
New York News & Notes
The Giants defense did an admirable job of containing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to just six points in the first half on Monday Night Football. But unfortunately for New York, the team’s 14-6 lead would eventually melt away in a 25-23 defeat.
Giants backers were rewarded with another ATS win despite the loss as the team easily covered the spread as a 13-point underdog. Their 1-7 SU record notwithstanding, the Giants have been a profitable bet this season at 5-3 ATS, including a current run of 4-1 ATS over their last five games.
Daniel Jones threw two interceptions in the loss to Tampa Bay. Jones has now turned the ball over 34 times through his first 20 games, which Elias Sports reports is the highest number of turnovers through a player’s first 20 games since Ryan Leaf committed 41 turnovers through his first 20. The notorious draft bust isn’t the type of company Giants fans want to see their franchise quarterback keep.
Washington News & Notes
Kyle Allen looked sharper under center than Dwayne Haskins Jr. did when he went 21-for-42 with 280 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception in Washington’s 20-19 loss to the Giants two weeks ago.
Last week, Allen looked even better, completing 15 of his 25 passes for 194 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 25-3 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Washington is 2-0 ATS since Allen has taken over the starting job.
The team’s defense has also been better over the last two games; since allowing 28.4 points per game through the first five games of the season, Washington has allowed only 11.5 points per game over its last two. With the Philadelphia Eagles leading the NFC East at just 3-4-1 SU, Washington is actually still in the hunt for a playoff spot with its 2-5 SU and 3-3-1 ATS record.
Betting Pick: New York +3
This game looks pretty close to a pick’em on paper, and the one-point margin in the last matchup only confirms how even this matchup is. With that in mind, it’s hard to pass up on the side getting three points.
