The Atlanta Falcons were a 3.5-point favorite for their showdown game with the Carolina Panthers for the NFC South title on Sunday afternoon, but it was the Panthers who came up with the 34-3 blowout upset victory to claim the conference's final playoff berth.
The Baltimore Ravens, meanwhile, locked down the AFC's final playoff berth in Week 17 with a 20-10 win over the Cleveland Browns - but as a 10-point favorite at some sportsbooks they only managed a PUSH for some bettors.
Also finding themselves in a PUSH situation on Sunday were the Seattle Seahawks, who beat the St. Louis Rams 20-6 to clinch the top overall seed in the NFC but were listed as 14-point favorites at some sportsbooks heading into the contest. The Green Bay Packers picked up a slim cover and the No. 2 seed in the NFC with a 30-20 win over the Detroit Lions as 9-point favorites.
The New England Patriots, who had already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC heading into Week 17, lost 17-9 to the Buffalo Bills as 5-point favorites in a meaningless contest for the team. The Denver Broncos, however, had no trouble covering against the Oakland Raiders with a 47-14 win as a 14.5-point favorite that gave them the No. 2 seed in the AFC.
Elsewhere, the Kansas City Chiefs knocked off the San Diego Chargers 19-7 as a 3-point favorite on Sunday, with both of those teams eliminated from playoff contention by the end of the early slate of games. Dallas covered against Washington in a 44-17 win as a 5.5-point favorite, and Indianapolis topped Tennessee 27-10 as a 7.5-point favorite.
