NFL Betting: Book needs Jets huge

The New Orleans Saints vs. New York Jets Week 9 game features the biggest decision on the NFL betting board at one sportsbook heading into the weekend.

A Sportsbook oddsmaker told OddsShark.com that his shop needs the underdog Jets “huge” heading into the weekend. The way the line has moved toward the Saints backs that up.

New Orleans opened as low as 3.5-point road favorites, but were laying as much as 6.5 as of Friday. Will it get to -7? That might be what it takes to attract any Jets money. The Jets are coming off an embarrassing 49-9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, as the New York defense gave up five passing touchdowns to Andy Dalton. Drew Brees is certainly salivating.

Sportsbook also has received lopsided action on the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots.

The rested Chargers went from small underdogs to small favorites against the host Washington Redskins. Washington QB Robert Griffin III (knee) is expected to start heading into the weekend, but he hasn’t returned to the form he showed leading his team to the playoffs as a rookie. RGIII appears to have lost his mojo. The Chargers appear headed in the other direction, and they've had a week off to rest up and prepare; San Diego is 5-1-1 against the spread in its past seven games off a bye week.

The Patriots are 7-point home favorites over the disappointing Pittsburgh Steelers. After Sportsbook as a 5-point favorite, this number had shot up to -7 almost everywhere as of Friday. The Steelers have covered the spread in three of their last 11 games against New England. Pittsburgh fans thought their team had turned things around after back-to-back wins over the Jets and Baltimore Ravens, but last week’s loss at the Oakland Raiders is a head-scratcher.

The Patriots rallied past the Miami Dolphins last week and have covered three straight games at home.
