NFL Betting Lines: Texans lose Johnson

The biggest name to hit the injury list over the weekend was Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, who left Houston’s game against Pittsburgh in the second quarter with a hamstring injury.

That injury is projected to keep Johnson out of action for three weeks, so he won’t be available this Sunday when Houston takes on the Oakland Raiders at home. With Johnson out and backup running backs Derrick Ward (ankle) and Ben Tate (groin) both considered questionable, look for Arian Foster to get plenty of work.

Foster flourished in his season debut last week, rushing for 155 yards on 30 carries. Even with Johnson’s injury, Houston is a 6-point favorite this week at BetOnline.

Pittsburgh also lost a key member of their team in Sunday’s game as linebacker James Harrison went down with an eye injury. He will have surgery to repair the orbital bone in the area, and is set to miss 4-6 weeks. The loss is a huge blow to Pittsburgh’s defense.

The Steelers offense is also banged up. Ben Roethlisberger is considered probable with a foot injury, but both running backs Rashard Mendenhall (considered questionable with a hamstring injury) and Mewelde Moore (considered doubtful with an ankle injury) are in jeopardy for Sunday’s game against Tennessee. Pittsburgh is a 3.5-point favorite at home at TopBet.

San Diego is also banged up on offense, with wide receiver Malcom Floyd (groin) and tight end Antonio Gates (foot) both considered questionable for Sunday’s game against Denver. Fortunately for Philip Rivers, wideout Vincent Jackson (leg) is considered probable, so he should be in action Sunday. San Diego is a 4-point road favorite at Bovada.

In a bit of good news on the injury front, the New York Jets should get Nick Mangold (ankle) back this week as he is currently considered probable. Mangold’s absence was sorely missed last week as offensive line blocking and snapping issues led New York to four turnovers. The Jets will need all the help they can get this week against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, who are a 9-point home favorite at BetOnline.
