Black Monday Props: How Many NFL Coaches Will Get Fired This Year?

Everyone knows coaches are hired to be fired in professional sports, and that adage is about to ring true once again in the NFL.

In case you’re not familiar with it, Black Monday is the day after the end of the regular season when most bad football teams (hint: there are a lot of them) fire their head coach and start searching for a new one. This year, the New York Giants were the only team to fire their coach midseason when Ben McAdoo was relieved of his duties a few weeks ago.

Plenty of bench bosses are on the hot seat right now, and Sportsbook is offering odds on how many of them will be out of work soon. The shop is dealing a Black Monday prop, with the OVER/UNDER set at six coaches losing their jobs.

Of the rumored potential firings, Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano and John Fox of the Chicago Bears are pretty close to shoo-ins to get the ax, while Jim Caldwell (Detroit Lions), Dirk Koetter (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Jack Del Rio (Oakland Raiders), Hue Jackson (Cleveland Browns), Bruce Arians (Arizona Cardinals) and Jay Gruden (Washington Redskins) could also potentially be in the mix. Even teams that are still in playoff contention heading into Week 17 could move on from their current scenario, as the rumor mill has been churning about Mike Mularkey’s tenure in Tennessee.

Look, I know it’s a bit twisted to bet on people losing their jobs, but this is sports betting. There’s no room for moral high ground here!
