NFL Computer Picks: Week 14 Bets

The NFL prediction computer is backing both underdogs in the two biggest games on the Week 14 betting board.

We’ll start in New Orleans, where the humbled Saints return home to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, where they have won 14 straight with Drew Brees and Sean Payton on the field. However, there is plenty to be concerned about in New Orleans after Monday night’s ugly performance in a 34-7 loss at Seattle. It had to have been a long plane ride home to New Orleans after taking that beat-down.

Now, the Saints turn around to face the surging Carolina Panthers, who have won eight straight games, going 7-1 against the spread during that streak. Carolina arrives in New Orleans as the underdog, though, but small ones. The Saints were field-goal favorites at most shops late in the week. That’s too many points for the NFL prediction computer, which is projecting the Panthers to go into New Orleans and hand the Saints their first home loss of the season, 29-26. Carolina has covered the spread in 11 of its last 12 trips to New Orleans.

The Panthers and Saints are tied atop the NFC South division standings and will play again in Week 16 in Carolina.

Meanwhile, out in the NFC West, the impressive Seahawks roll into San Francisco with a chance to put away the 49ers in the division. San Francisco is around a 3-point favorite, despite being dominated in a Week 2 loss in Seattle. The NFL prediction computer registered Colin Kaepernick’s sloppy performance against the Seahawks and projects more struggles from the 49ers on Sunday, although in a closer game. The Seahawks have covered the spread in 8 of their last 10 road games, notes the Computer, which is taking the Seahawks, 31-27.
