NFL Odds: Week 5 Betting Trends

Two of the most exciting rookie quarterbacks from last season meet this week, as the undefeated Seattle Seahawks with Russell Wilson travel to Indianapolis to play Andrew Luck and the Colts.

Seattle (4-0) is laying -2.5 to the Colts (3-1) at 5Dimes.

Luck, who was selected by the Colts first overall in the 2012 NFL Draft, is 14-6 overall - matching John Elway for the best 20-game start by a quarterback drafted No. 1 overall - and this will be a huge test for him to display his talent against Richard Sherman, widely considered the best cornerback in the NFL.

Considering the Colts have won and covered six straight as a home underdog, and are on home winning streaks of 10-2 straight-up and 9-3 against the number, it might be worth a look if you're contemplating an investment on Indianapolis.

Then again, Seattle is on a perfect 5-0 spread streak while ordering room service and its second-year signal-caller is a big reason. Wilson, who was selected by the Seahawks with the 12th pick in the third round (75th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft, led Seattle from down two scores in the fourth quarter last week in a 23-20 overtime win in Houston.

Denver (4-0) also looks to keep its perfect record intact when it travels to Dallas to play the Cowboys (2-2), who are stinging from a 30-21 loss in San Diego. The Broncos stroll into Big D on winning runs of 6-2 straight-up and 6-1-1 at the window against the Cowboys, dating back to 1980. Denver is also on road win streaks of 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS, and 8-1 ATS when playing teams from the NFC East. Denver is -8.5.

In an NFC North battle, Green Bay (1-2) comes in after its bye week laying -7.5 to the Lions (3-1), who scored a huge win over division-rival Chicago last Sunday. And the Packers check into this battle on a 6-0-1 spread streak following a bye week. Green Bay fans will be happy to know that coincides with the Lions' 22-game losing streak at Lambeau Field and 1-14 SU slide overall in this series. Detroit is also mired in a 1-5-1 skid as a road underdog.
