NFL Odds: Week 8 Betting Trends

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has been a dichotomy of sorts this season.

While he's been inconsistent in his first year under center, he's also shown promise and proven to be effective at the same time for the Jets. One week after helping to lead the Fly Boys to a monumental win over AFC East-rival New England, Smith will endure another test in Cincinnati. The Bengals are -7 at Bovada.

After throwing an early interception that was returned for a touchdown, Smith rebounded to bring the Jets back from a 21-10 halftime deficit. As the Jets head into Queen City they've won 9 of the last 10 meetings with the Bengals dating back to 1992 and are on a 7-2 ATS run in the month of October.

Be wary, however, as New York has failed to cover 11 of the last 14 games it's been installed as the road pup.

The other team from Jersey - ahem, New York - is headed down the Interstate for an NFC East battle. The Giants, fresh off their first win of the season on Monday night, will visit Philadelphia, which is looking to atone for a humiliating home loss to the Cowboys. And things don't look too good for the G-Men, both on the field or at the window, based on recent numbers.

The Giants are mired in a 1-5-1 ATS slide before a bye week while they're also in on a 2-9 losing skid both straight-up and at the books in this series. Philadelphia is -6.

A somewhat rejuvenated Redskins team will attempt to hand Denver its second-straight loss, after the Broncos lost their Sunday night battle in Indianapolis. Washington is beginning to look like the team that closed out last season with seven straight wins, as it heads to the Mile High City off its two best rushing performances of the season. The 'Skins have covered 7 of their last 9 against the Broncos, while they're also in on a perfect 4-0 spread streak when catching double digits on the highway.

Meanwhile, the high-octane Broncos, who have one of the more porous defensive units, are mired in a 3-6 ATS slide as a double-digit home favorite. The Broncos are -14.
