NFL Props Bets: Young QBs

Two of the most interesting quarterback situations in the NFL right now are the Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos. In Denver, Tim Tebow continues to defy odds and experts and keep winning. In Houston, the Texans are down to third-string quarterback T.J. Yates after losing Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart to season-ending injuries in back-to-back games.

Here’s a look at the prop bets Bovada has available on those two quarterbacks as well as a few other interesting prop betting options for Week 13.

Tim Tebow does it on the ground

At this point, we all know Tim Tebow isn’t a passer; but he has had success to this point rushing the ball. One prop bet available asks whether or not Tim Tebow will attempt 22 or more rushes in a single game again in 2011; Yes +300, No -500. For this week’s game against Minnesota, the total on his rushing yards is currently set at 60.5, with the Over and Under both available at -115.

T.J. Yates gets his turn

With Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart both out, rookie T.J. Yates takes over the reins of the Houston Texans’ offense. How will Yates fare this week at home against the Atlanta Falcons? The total for his passing yards is currently set at 210.5 (Over -105, Under -125) and touchdown passes is set at 1.5 (Over +160, Under -200).  Yates was 8-for-15 for 70 yards passing with no touchdowns or interceptions in relief of Leinart last week.

Can Ndamukong Suh keep his cool?

Ndamukong Suh was suspended for two games for stomping an opponent in last week’s loss to Green Bay on Thanksgiving. He had already been disciplined four other times this season, fined three times for roughing the quarterback and once for an unsportsmanlike conduct. Will Ndamukong Suh be fined again before Detroit’s 2011 season ends, playoffs included? Betting “No” is unavailable, but betting “Yes” is currently +200.

Will Green Bay finish undefeated?

Another interesting prop bet asks if the Green Bay Packers beat the New York Giants this week, will they go undefeated? For action, Green Bay must win this week. The schedule shapes up nicely with three games at home; Oakland, @Kansas City, Chicago, Detroit. The big question is, will Green Bay rest players after they clinch home field, or will they go for perfection? Betting “Yes” that they’ll go undefeated is +115, “No” is -145.
