NFL Thanksgiving Day Odds

Thanksgiving Day in America comes with some annual traditions - the parade, a big turkey dinner, and betting on NFL football. Detroit and Dallas play host this year as they have for decades, and the third game will be hosted by the New York Jets. Here’s a look at this year’s Turkey Day action.

New England Patriots (-6.5) at Detroit Lions (+6.5), 12:30 PM ET - best Pats line was at Bovada at -6.5 Wednesday

The New England Patriots are a 6.5-point road favorite at Bovada heading into Detroit on Thursday afternoon. New England is tied for the best record in the NFL with the New York Jets and Atlanta at 8-2 SU, while Detroit has one of the worst records in the league at 2-8 SU.

While Detroit has struggled to win games outright, they have done very well ATS at 7-3 this season. That includes a perfect 4-0 ATS record in four home games this season (2-2 SU). New England is 5-4-1 ATS this season and 3-2 ATS on the road (3-2 SU as well).

Most bettors are siding with the clearly superior Patriots, and recent history is not on Detroit’s side; the Lions have lost by double digits in the Thanksgiving Classic for six straight years.

New Orleans Saints (-3.5) at Dallas Cowboys (+3.5), 4:15 PM ET - best Cowboys odds was +4 at Bovada as of Wednesday

New Orleans is -3.5 at Sportsbook.ag on the road against Dallas on Thursday. The Saints are 7-3 SU and 4-6 ATS this season, but have been in top form over their last five games at 4-1 both SU and ATS.

Unlike Detroit, recent history has favored Dallas in the Thanksgiving Classic. Dallas seems to get up for the tradition every year, and have won four straight times by a margin of 17 points or more.

The key to this game will be which Dallas team shows up, as it has been a tale of two seasons for the Cowboys. Dallas started off the year 1-7 both SU and ATS, but since firing Wade Phillips have gone 2-0 both SU and ATS. Dallas will need to be at their best to compete with New Orleans.

Cincinnati Bengals (+8.5) at New York Jets (-8.5), 8:20 PM ET - best Bengals line at 5Dimes at +10 as of Wednesday

At -8.5 at Bovada, the New York Jets are Thursday’s biggest favorite when they host the Cincinnati Bengals. Like the New England at Detroit game, this matchup features one of the NFL’s best teams in the Jets (8-2 SU, 6-4 ATS) against one of the NFL’s worst teams in the Bengals (2-8 SU, 3-7 ATS).

While many of the numbers favor New York, Cincinnati may be worth playing at +8.5. New York’s last four wins have all been by six points or less, and Cincinnati will have revenge as motivation since New York knocked them out of the playoffs last season.
