NFL Week 1 Expert Betting Odds Picks

IK Enemkpali did the Jets a favor when he broke Geno Smith's jaw. That forced the Jets to name Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback. It's a factor why I like the Jets to cover three points against the Browns.

Fitzpatrick and Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown are journeymen. Each, though, has proven functional when equipped with weapons. The Jets have much better skill position players than Cleveland with Chris Ivory, Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

Fitzpatrick is comfortable with Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. Fitzpatrick started 45 games for Gailey at Buffalo when Gailey was the Bills' head man from 2010-12.

The Jets rank with the Broncos and Bills as having the best defense in the AFC. The Browns have lost 85 percent of their last 33 road games.

Take the Bills and the Three Points

Rex Ryan makes his Buffalo coaching debut Sunday at home against the Colts. I'll take three points with Buffalo.

Indianapolis bolstered its skill position talent adding veterans Frank Gore and Andre Johnson, but did little to upgrade in the trenches. The Bills will hold edges on both sides of the line.

Buffalo was No. 1 in sacks last year with 54. Andrew Luck can hide many of his offensive line's shortcomings, but still needs time to throw.

Tyrod Taylor gives the Bills a running dimension at quarterback. He has a decent receiving group with Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Percy Harvin and tight end Charles Clay.

Over on Tap for Giants vs. Cowboys

The Giants and Cowboys have not gone under during their last five meetings. They play in the Sunday night game. The over/under is 51.

That's a high total, but over is the way to go. The Giants are rebuilding their defense. They have multiple new starters there - and multiple injuries.

Tony Romo is sure to take advantage of the Giants' cluster injury problem at safety. Jason Pierre-Paul isn't expected to play, removing the Giants' best pass rusher.

Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. can do their part attacking an inexperienced Dallas secondary minus its top cornerback, Orlando Scamdrick. The Cowboys also are without their top run defender, Rolando McClain, and pass rusher, Greg Hardy. Both are suspended.
