It’s looking like Tennessee may have picked something special with their No. 2 pick in the 2015 NFL entry draft as Marcus Mariota has so far proved wrong the doubters who gave the Titans a C- for taking him where they did. The Heisman Sportsbook has emerged as a budding superstar in his sophomore season and has already accumulated 2998 yards and 25 touchdowns while keeping his mistakes to a minimum.
The Hawaii native has the fifth-highest passer rating in the league and has thrown two or more touchdowns in eight straight games. The latter stat is important to note because Sportsbook has a prop up this week for whether the stud second-year quarterback will continue that streak of two-touchdown games.
Very good timing for the books on this one as the Titans are – conveniently enough – matched up against the Denver Broncos and their league-best pass defense in Week 14. The combination of Aqib Talib, Chris Harris Jr., T.J. Ward and that incredible pass rush has resulted in the Broncos giving up just 10 touchdowns through the air this season.
Mariota’s performances the last few weeks have come against some very suspect defenses and I have serious doubts he’s going to be able to replicate what he’s been doing against these Broncos, who have allowed only two quarterbacks – Philip Rivers and Drew Brees – to throw multiple touchdowns on them in a game this year.
The last time the Titans signal-caller went up against a top-10 pass defense was actually the last time he failed to throw two TDs in a game. This was all the way back in Week 4 in a 27-20 loss to the Houston Texans in which the 23-year-old completed just 44.8 percent of his passes and was picked off once.
There is definitely a precedent here and you may want to take advantage – this feels like free money.
If you agree and you like betting on other people’s failure, you can grab the no option on this prop at a very tolerable +110 price.
