NFL Week 4 Expert Betting Odds Picks

No Ben Roethlisberger, no Pittsburgh being a home favorite.

The Sportsbook Hotel in Las Vegas had put a look-ahead early number of Steelers minus 3 1/2 against Baltimore. That all changed, of course, when Roethlisberger went down with a knee injury forcing Michael Vick to become Pittsburgh's new starting quarterback.

The line currently is Ravens minus 2 1/2 and likely to be three by kickoff. I'll lay the 2 1/2 now. Vick is just a shadow of his former self and not a good fit for the Steelers offense. Pittsburgh is going to rely heavily on Le'Veon Bell. Baltimore's defense is down, but still hasn't allowed a 100-yard rusher in 35 consecutive games.

The Steelers defense is way down. I don't see the Steelers duplicating their gutty defensive effort of a week ago against the Rams. Only Nick Foles and Alex Smith have failed to throw multiple touchdown passes against the Steelers during the last 13 games.

UNDER is on tap in Eagles vs Redskins

They are drying up, but on Tuesday there were 47 1/2's on the Philadelphia-Washington matchup. Hello? The Eagles' offense has yet to be fixed. Sam Bradford is far from comfortable and DeMarco Murray has done nothing except prove an embarrassment.

Philadelphia is averaging less than 20 points a game and ranks 31st in total yards.

The Redskins have an improved defense. They also rank last in seconds per snap. Not only do the Redskins set the slowest pace in the NFL, but they are heavily run-oriented playing for field position rather than take any chances with Kirk Cousins.

So put me down for under.

Home DOG the pick in Packers at Niners

Fresh off an impressive nationally televised home win against Kansas City, Green Bay ventures to the West Coast to play San Francisco. Those who like the Packers best be careful.

Green Bay last beat the 49ers on the road in 2006, which was Mike McCarthy's first season. The Packers are making a long journey on a short practice week. They also have several receiver injuries.

The 49ers upset Minnesota in their lone home game. There is no rush to play this game if you like the home underdog. San Francisco already was at plus nine on Tuesday and I see the line going higher.
