Which NFL Quarterback Will Throw the Most Interceptions this Season?

With the NFL preseason underway and the regular season right around the corner, you may be starting to sift through your fantasy football magazines to find out if there’s a sleeper who can win you your league in late December. However, be careful on your selection at the quarterback position as a wrong pick will lead to seemingly endless numbers of -2’s from interceptions and, of course, you can bet on who you think will lead the charge in that category.
Online sportsbook Bovada has Jameis Winston as the favorite to throw the most interceptions this season at +750, followed by Ben Roethlisberger at +800, Kyler Murray at +1000, Sam Darnold at +1100, Josh Allen at +1200, Philip Rivers and Cam Newton at +1400 and Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen and Dwayne Haskins at +1600 to round out the top 10 quarterbacks on this list.
My Pick for the Most Picks
Big Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers at +800 is my favorite pick to throw the most interceptions. Last year, he won the dishonor of throwing the most picks at 16, one more than runners-up Andrew Luck, Case Keenum and Sam Darnold. Additionally, Big Ben racked up 675 pass attempts, which again ranked first among all quarterbacks, 36 more than Luck.
Roethlisberger is now 37 years old and will be playing without star wide receiver Antonio Brown, who left to play for Oakland, and running back Le’Veon Bell, although he sat out last year too. I think the Steelers are going to have a down year, which will lead to Ben throwing more passes, which will inevitably lead to more interceptions.
Sleeper QB for the Most Interceptions
Not entirely sure if you can call this a sleeper of a pick as you can find this quarterback eighth on the oddsboard, but at +1600 I like Josh Rosen to throw the most interceptions. In 2018, the rookie didn’t become the starter until Week 4, starting 13 games and throwing a total of 14 interceptions, two fewer than Roethlisberger. He also did so while throwing 282 fewer passes.
Rosen now goes to Miami, which doesn’t have a ton of talent around him and will once again be trailing many games, forcing him to air the ball out, leading to more issues. The big question mark for making this play is whether he will be the starter over Ryan Fitzpatrick, a known pick-thrower in his own right. If it is indeed Fitzpatrick under center, then perhaps a sprinkle on him at +2500 may be your better wager.
