Sometimes the bad teams are just as entertaining as the good ones in the NFL. So, while some people bet on Super Bowl odds or big awards like the NFL MVP, let’s dive into the other side of the spectrum.

Oddsmaker BetOnline Sportsbook has provided us with odds for any team to go winless this season in the NFL (that would mean losing all 17 regular-season games). Below, we break down if there’s some value in that market and then what teams have the best shot at being an 0-17 NFL squad.
NFL Odds To Go Winless
Market | Odds |
---|---|
Yes | +1400 |
Odds as of July 22 at BetOnline Sportsbook
Only five teams have ever gone winless in NFL history, and only two have done so in the modern (16-plus games) regular-season era — the 2008 Detroit Lions (0-16) and the 2017 Cleveland Browns (0-16). Now, with an additional regular-season game, going winless is even harder.
This year’s NFL winless team odds imply a 6.67 percent chance a team will go 0-17 this year.

Best Bets: NFL Odds To Go Winless
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks weren’t very good last year. They won seven games, had suspect defensive play all year, and couldn’t stay healthy or push for a postseason spot. So, losing Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, D.J. Reed, Gerald Everett and others in the offseason, it’s fair to expect the Seahawks to be one of the worst teams in football.
Houston Texans
The Texans had a decent offseason, adding Derek Stingley Jr. and some other young talent in the draft before filling out some depth on the roster in free agency. However, Houston still isn’t really in compete mode right now. Davis Mills still has plenty of question marks at QB, there aren’t really any playmakers on offense, and the defense doesn’t scare opposing teams much either.
There’s enough competence in Houston that the Texans shouldn’t go winless, but with a few injuries and some bad losses, who knows.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons lost a lot of reliable talent this offseason, trading Matt Ryan while losing Russell Gage, Hayden Hurst and others to free agency. They signed a few players and extended some offensive playmakers, but with Marcus Mariota at QB and a young Desmond Ridder learning behind him, the lack of Matty Ice makes Atlanta one of the tanking teams this year, for sure.
