Looking at Patriots vs Commanders odds & picks for this preseason Week 3 contest, I'm honing in on the underdogs.
The Commanders may be 0-2 so far this preseason, but their depth should flash against a suspect Patriots team. I'm taking Washington to cover a +5.5 spread. Here's my pick and breakdown for the Patriots vs Commanders preseason Week 3 matchup on August 25th:
Market | Patriots Odds | Commanders Odds |
---|---|---|
Moneyline | -240 | +200 |
Point Spread | -5.5 | +5.5 |
Point Total | OVER 33.5 | UNDER 33.5 |

Patriots vs Commanders Odds & Picks
Commanders +5.5
I've been taking UNDERs all over the place and was really tempted to do so here. But, a 33.5 point line is just so low... it's too risky for me. So I'm gonna take the dog to cover instead.
The starters are going to play very limited snaps at the start of this final preseason game, for both teams. When those big dogs come out, the edge goes to Washington.
After Drake Maye left the Patriots' game last week, the depth QBs behind him combined to go 8/18 for 66 yards and an interception. They didn't have a single RB rush for over 20 yards, either. The Commanders, on the other hand, have some dudes after QB1 Jayden Daniels. Jeff Driskel and Sam Hartman both have completion rates over 60% so far this preseason and Brian Robinson and Michael Wiley are both averaging over 4.1 yards per carry at RB.
The depth edge clearly leans Washington in this one, so I'm going to take them plus the points this weekend.
