Philadelphia News & Notes

Jalen Hurts had another strong game for the Eagles last Sunday, going 32-for-48 with 387 passing yards and two passing touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing with 47 yards on eight carries. But despite the solid performance, the Eagles lost their third straight game, falling 42-30 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Philadelphia’s defense started the season off strong in a 32-6 win over the Atlanta Falcons and also played well in a 17-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. Since then, though, the Eagles have been torched for over 40 points in back-to-back contests, losing their previous game against Dallas 41-21.

With the defense forcing the team into these big holes, the offense has abandoned its running game over the last two weeks and Miles Sanders is paying the price.

Carolina News & Notes

Carolina carried a 3-0 SU and ATS record into its road game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and had surrendered only 30 total points in those three games. The Cowboys eclipsed that number in their 36-28 win over the Panthers, who allowed four touchdown passes and a whopping 245 rushing yards on defense.

Daily fantasy sports players should consider adding DJ Moore to their lineup this Sunday. Moore caught eight passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns in Carolina’s loss to Dallas and is averaging 7.5 receptions and 99.5 receiving yards per game this season. The wideout has emerged as Sam Darnold’s favorite target and should continue to play well against this struggling Eagles defense.

Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey is currently listed as questionable to return to the lineup against Philadelphia.

Why Philadelphia Will Cover

While the Eagles have looked terrible on defense over the last two weeks, those games have come against top-five offenses in the Chiefs and Cowboys. Facing a far less explosive offense this week, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Philadelphia keep this one competitive, especially if Hurts is on his game.

Why Carolina Will Cover

A road game against the Cowboys is a far more difficult challenge than a home game against the Eagles. Philadelphia’s lack of a consistent running game should make it easy for the Panthers defense to hone in on the passing game and bounce back from Sunday’s poor performance.
