Philadelphia News & Notes

Jalen Hurts had only 147 passing yards on a 13-for-24 day throwing the ball against the New Orleans Saints. Hurts did his damage on the ground, rushing for 69 yards and three touchdowns in Philadelphia’s 40-29 victory over the Saints. The Eagles improved to 3-1 SU and ATS over their last four games with the victory and have scored an impressive 34.5 points per game over that stretch.

Hurts and the Eagles are making things work on offense with an elite rushing attack that ranks second-best in the NFL by averaging 153.4 rushing yards per game. The second-year quarterback is leading the way with 618 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 114 attempts. Hurts and Lamar Jackson (639 yards) are the only two quarterbacks in the NFL with more than 340 rushing yards this season.

New York News & Notes

The Giants decided to fire offensive coordinator Jason Garrett after a disastrous 30-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night. Freddie Kitchens will take over play-calling duties and will try to get something out of Daniel Jones, who went 23-for-38 with one touchdown pass and two interceptions against the Buccaneers. Jones has recorded 2,226 passing yards, nine touchdown passes and seven interceptions in 10 starts this season.

The last seven games of the regular season could be the last chance for head coach Joe Judge and Jones to save their jobs. Judge has compiled an underwhelming 9-17 SU record as head coach to date and Jones has not looked the part of a franchise quarterback. Things don’t get much easier this week facing an Eagles pass defense that ranks 12th in the NFL in allowing 231.5 passing yards per game.

How Philadelphia Will Cover

The Giants rank 22nd in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 119.7 rushing yards per game. The Eagles should continue to enjoy success like they have in recent weeks running the football with Jalen Hurts and their running back committee, leading to a win and cover.

How New York Will Cover

Freddie Kitchens is known to be a more aggressive play-caller than Jason Garrett, and the Giants don’t have much to lose sitting at 3-7 SU on the season. Signs of life on offense could lead New York to a cover and perhaps an upset win at home.
