Pittsburgh Steelers vs Tennessee Titans Preview

Steelers Have a Big Edge Over Titans

It’s rare to see fans and bettors completely split on a team’s performance – but that’s where we are with the Tennessee Titans, who host Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon. The Titans have won each of their first three games but have failed to cover in any of them. They find themselves as underdogs this weekend vs the Steelers (3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS).

*NOTE: Steelers-Titans postponed to Monday or Tuesday*

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Titans opened as 1.5-point favorites, but their close calls combined with Pittsburgh’s impressive start has flipped the odds in the Steelers’ favor (-1.5). The total has dipped a half-point from 47.5 to 47.

Pittsburgh News & Notes

You can look at the Steelers’ schedule to date and suggest that they should be 3-0; they’ve faced the Texans, Broncos and Giants, who are a combined 0-9 to start the season. While that might be true, wins are wins – and the Steelers have looked good on both sides of the football over that stretch, boasting a +22 point differential while allowing fewer than 20 points per game.

If you’re looking for a sleeper in daily fantasy leagues, keep an eye on Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool. The gigantic rookie took advantage of an injury to Diontae Johnson in seeing 76 percent of the snaps in the win over the Giants; if Johnson is out or limited again in Week 4, Claypool – who was a favorite of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the preseason – will see plenty of attention.

Tennessee News & Notes

Like the Steelers, the Titans can hardly be disappointed to be 3-0 regardless of how they arrived there. Still, bettors have to be a bit peeved that Tennessee is 0-3 ATS, with victories over Denver, Jacksonville and Minnesota (a combined 1-8 on the season) coming by a combined six points. The Titans are now 0-4 ATS in their last four games dating back to the end of 2019.

It might be difficult to trust any Tennessee option on offense for player prop or daily fantasy purposes against a stout Pittsburgh defense – especially at running back. The Steelers have held opposing teams to a league-low 54 rushing yards per game on 2.7 yards per carry, which could mean a long afternoon for Titans star Derrick Henry (319 rushing yards, 3.9 YPC, 2 TDs).

Betting Pick: Steelers -1.5 (-110)

Pittsburgh is the better team on both sides of the ball, and should be particularly effective in the ground game against a Titans defense allowing the fifth-most rushing yards per game.
