Raiders Eagles Betting Preview for Week 9

Philadelphia EaglesOakland Raiders

The NFC East appears wide open, but the Philadelphia Eagles don't seem to have much interest in doing anything about it.

Philly is having injury troubles at the QB spot, and last week had to go with rookie Matt Barkley in a loss to the Giants.

That QB situation is still up in the air as the 3-5 Eagles get ready to head cross-country to play the 3-4 Raiders in Oakland Sunday afternoon (4:05 pm ET, Fox).

Philly has scored a total of 10 points in losing its last two games and willl probably have Nick Foles under center as Michael Vick doesn't appear to be ready to go.

Oakland, on the other hand, got a long touchdown run from QB Terrelle Pryor in a 21-18 victory over Pittsburgh Sunday. The Raiders are now 4-1-1 ATS with Pryor at QB this season.

In the early betting the Eagles were favored by three points on the road over Oakland. The Eagles however are just 1-5 ATS vs Oakland since 1986. For totals bettors, the Raiders have played six straight UNDERS as home dog.

This season the Raiders are 3-4 overall and 5-2 ATS against the number, while the Eagles are 3-5 and 3-5 ATS. As for the totals, Oakland is 1-6 on the OU, and Philadelphia is 5-3.

The point spread was settled in at 3 favoring the host Raiders earlier in the week, according to Sportsbook. The over under line was hovering around 46.5, with movement expected during the week at Sportsbook.

This game matches up the No. 20 (Raiders) and the No. 29 (Eagles) teams in the league, according to our current NFL Power Rankings at OddsShark. A 17-16 result in favor of the Raiders is predicted by handicapping models.

The Eagles were a 15-7 loser in their most recent outing at home against the Giants. They failed to cover the 5.5-point spread as favorites, while the total score (22) made winners of UNDER bettors. Last time we saw the Steelers, they had no answer for Terrelle Pryor as the Raiders rolled to a 21-18 victory at O.co Coliseum.

How They Match Up:
The game also pits Oakland's No. 26-ranked offense, averaging 18 PPG, against a Eagles defense that ranks No. 23 this week at 26.38 PPG. The Raiders aerial game is averaging 176 yards per game, less than the Eagles secondary allows through the air, 302.25 YPG per game.

In comparing defenses, the Eagles own the league's No. 7-rated front 7 in terms of stopping the run, allowing 90.5 yards per game when on the road. Oakland, on the other hand, rates No. 3 this week in generating rushing yards at home.
