Opening Odds Analysis

The line has remained steady in this matchup with the Rams going off as 7-point home favorites. Early action on the UNDER has moved the total down from its opener of 46.5 points to 45 points. San Francisco has been an underdog in each of its last five games and is 2-3 SU and ATS over that stretch.

San Francisco News & Notes

San Francisco managed to play well through a slew of injuries to compile a 4-3 SU and ATS record over its first seven games. But the 49ers’ lack of healthy talent finally caught up to them in November as the team has gone 0-3 SU and ATS over its last three games and has been outscored 98-57 in those three losses.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, tight end George Kittle, cornerback Richard Sherman and defensive ends Solomon Thomas and Nick Bosa are all still out with long-term injuries.

Fortunately for the 49ers, starting running back Raheem Mostert is scheduled to return to the lineup Sunday. Mostert has played only four games this season but has averaged 5.9 yards per carry and 13.6 yards per reception in his limited time on the field. His return should help take some of the pressure off backup quarterback Nick Mullens, who has been underwhelming in six starts for San Francisco.

Los Angeles News & Notes

The Rams picked up an impressive win on Monday night as they went into Tampa Bay and defeated the Buccaneers 27-24 as 4-point road underdogs. Los Angeles has now held two of the NFL’s top offenses in check with back-to-back wins and covers over the Seattle Seahawks and the Buccaneers. The team’s defense ranks best in the NFL in yards per game allowed with 291.9 and second-best in points per game allowed with 19.2.

Jared Goff threw two interceptions in the win but was mostly effective, completing 76.5 percent of his passes for 376 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. With a 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS record, the Rams are now tied for first place in the NFC West with the Seahawks and currently hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. Their Week 16 showdown in Seattle could have the division on the line if both teams keep playing well.

Betting Pick: UNDER 45

San Francisco has had a bye week to prepare for Los Angeles. That should help on defense, but on offense it may not make much of a difference against this tough Rams defensive unit. Look for a low-scoring bout in this one.
