The San Francisco 49ers (6-5 SU, 5-6 ATS) are 1-9 SU and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games against the Seattle Seahawks (3-8, 5-6). The 49ers have a golden opportunity to end their road woes against the slumping Seahawks as favorites on Sunday afternoon.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The betting line has remained steady on this NFC West rivalry game since the 49ers opened as 3.5-point road favorites. The total has moved slightly from its opener at 46 points down to 45.5 points. San Francisco is 2-14 SU in its last 16 games against the Seahawks.
San Francisco News & Notes
Elijah Mitchell had 27 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown and Deebo Samuel added 66 rushing yards and two touchdowns on six carries in San Francisco’s 34-26 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
The 49ers improved to 3-0 SU and ATS over their last three games and are now 4-1 SU and ATS over their last five since going 0-4 SU and ATS in their previous four games.
San Francisco’s offense has come alive over the last three weeks, averaging 31.7 points per game in the team’s last three wins. Deebo Samuel has added a nice wrinkle to the running game in recent weeks, but the 49ers will have to do without him this week as he has been ruled out with a groin injury.
Trey Sermon and JaMycal Hasty are both listed as questionable to return this week, but regardless of their status, the Seahawks can expect to see a healthy dose of Elijah Mitchell on Sunday.
Seattle News & Notes
Seattle’s offense couldn’t get much going in the team’s 17-15 loss on the road to the Washington Football Team on Monday night. Russell Wilson went 20-for-31 with 247 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions – he did throw an interception on a late two-point conversion attempt with a chance to tie the game, but those don’t count on the stat sheet.
Wilson also led the team in rushing with a paltry 16 yards as Seattle’s running backs rushed for only 18 yards on 10 combined attempts.
This Russell Wilson is not the elite quarterback we’ve come to know over the last decade. The loss on Monday was Wilson’s fourth straight, marking the first time the star quarterback has ever lost four in a row. Wilson has averaged only 183.2 passing yards per game over his last five starts.
How San Francisco Will Cover
San Francisco just needs to keep things rolling. The 49ers are playing well on defense and are rushing the ball effectively. This has been a recipe for success for them in recent years and should lead to a win and cover if it continues against the Seahawks.
How Seattle Will Cover
Seattle has to find a way to get its offense going in order to cover the spread or score an outright upset in this one. Despite allowing a ton of yards, the Seahawks have allowed only 20.5 points per game this season. Another bend-don’t-break effort coupled with some offense is the best path here.
