Seahawks Seek First Winning Streak Of 2021 Vs Texans

The Seattle Seahawks (4-8 SU, 6-6 ATS) are 0-4 SU and ATS in their last four games coming off a win. The Seahawks have a golden opportunity to end that slump and win consecutive games for the first time this season when they visit the Houston Texans (2-10, 5-7) on Sunday.

Seattle came away with a 30-23 upset win over the San Francisco 49ers as 3-point home underdogs on Sunday in a game that saw both teams turn the ball over three times.

Russell Wilson completed 30 of 37 pass attempts for 231 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the win while the Seahawks’ makeshift rushing attack had 146 yards on 27 attempts. Adrian Peterson rushed for only 16 yards on 11 carries but did manage to score the 126th touchdown of his career on one of those rushes.

The lion’s share of Seattle’s rushing yards came on a 73-yard touchdown rush by Travis Homer on a fake punt. Seattle still needs to find a way to get its running game going on a more consistent basis if it hopes to finish the 2021 season on a high note.

Houston News & Notes

Houston’s woefully bad season continued Sunday in a 31-0 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Tyrod Taylor was pulled after going 5-for-13 with 45 passing yards and an interception, though Davis Mills didn’t fare much better, going 6-for-14 with 49 yards. The Texans mustered only 141 total yards against the Colts while the defense got torched for 389 yards and 31 points.

The Texans pulled off a stunning 22-13 upset of the Tennessee Titans as 10-point favorites on November 21 before following that up with a 21-14 loss to the awful New York Jets and then this performance against Indianapolis. The win was clearly an anomoly for this group that has gone 1-10 SU and 4-7 ATS over its last 11 games.

How Seattle Will Cover

Seattle enters this matchup with the sixth-best scoring defense in the NFL, allowing only 20.2 points per game. Considering how hopeless this Texans offense has looked through most of 2021, the Seahawks should have little trouble keeping Houston in check and giving their offense a very low bar to clear for a win and cover. 

How Houston Will Cover

Houston’s defense had allowed only 17 points per game over its previous three games prior to the ugly loss against the Colts. If the Texans are able to get their defense back on track against the Seahawks, they could keep the game close enough to cover the spread getting a generous 7.5 points at home.
