Russell Wilson and the Seahawks play Washington on Monday in a game listed as a pick'em in Seattle-Washington betting odds.

Seahawks No Longer Favored At Washington On MNF

The struggles of the Seattle Seahawks (3-7 SU, 5-5 ATS) are real as they visit the Washington Football Team (4-6, 3-7) on Monday Night Football, going from 3.5-point road favorites to small underdogs in early betting action at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. The Seahawks have dropped five of their last six games following a 23-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals as 5.5-point home favorites last week, and they have been outscored 40-13 since Russell Wilson returned.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Maybe Seattle brought Wilson back too soon from finger surgery, as he has not been the same player despite having some of the best offensive weapons in the NFL. He has completed 34 of 66 passes for 368 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in going 0-2 SU and ATS since returning from the injury he suffered against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5.

Meanwhile, Washington has gone in the other direction over that stretch, winning two in a row SU and ATS for the first time this season. Recency bias aside, Washington is at home and is simply better right now, which is why this game saw the team flip from an underdog to a small favorite before settling in at a pick’em on Tuesday. The total is also down a couple of points to 46, likely due to the offensive woes of the Seahawks.

Seattle News & Notes

Something is brewing in Seattle, and it is not good coffee. Going into the season, there were rumblings that Wilson wanted out, hence the trade rumors that surrounded him. Then came his finger injury that happened when the team was 2-2 and still in the mix in the NFC West.

This is becoming a lost season for both him and head coach Pete Carroll, who might finally be running out of the magic that helped the Seahawks win their first Super Bowl and make back-to-back appearances in the big game in 2014 and 2015.

So where do they go from here? There are four winnable games the rest of the year against non-divisional opponents, including this one, and all of them are must-win at this point if they are going to finish up on a positive note and reach the .500 mark.

Washington News & Notes

In this battle of veteran coaches, you have to give Washington’s Ron Rivera the edge. Rivera continues to prove he can motivate his players in key spots, and last Sunday was another perfect example. Facing his former team – including Cam Newton – Rivera helped lead Washington to a 27-21 upset of the Carolina Panthers as a 3.5-point road underdog.

Most of all, he has trusted in quarterback Taylor Heinicke, whose confidence has grown because of it. Heinicke has developed good chemistry with his teammates, particularly wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who remains one of the league’s most underrated offensive players.

When compared to Wilson’s play over the last two games, there is no comparison, with Heinicke completing 42 of 54 passes for 462 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. His QBR rating last week was a career-best 91.1.

How Seattle Will Cover

Seattle has to bust out of its slump at some point, so why not at Washington? There is less pressure on Wilson to perform away from home, and the Seahawks have won in their last three trips there dating back to his very first playoff victory on January 6, 2013.

How Washington Will Cover

Heinicke is playing the best football of his career, and there is no reason the fairy tale has to end here. Bettors believe in him and Washington, and he just needs to keep believing in himself and not turn the ball over. A third straight win will lead to a third straight cover.
