Sunday Setup: Rams deal with injuries

Some injuries are easy to diagnose right away, but others can change day-to-day. Many key players around the league were dealing with those more difficult injuries this week, and we have the most recent information available.

Here are some of the late injury updates from Friday evening for this week’s NFL action.

Jahvid Best ruled out with a concussion

Jahvid Best was considered doubtful with a concussion all week, but he has officially been ruled out for Detroit’s home game against Atlanta this week. The Lions had traded Jerome Harrison to Philadelphia to receive Ronnie Brown, but that trade was voided when it was revealed that Harrison was injured. As a result, Detroit will have to press forward with Keiland Williams, who has just 49 yards on 19 carries this season. Detroit is still a 3-point favorite at BetOnline.

LeGarrette Blount can’t go in London

LeGarrette Blount was also ruled out at the end of this week with a leg injury as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Chicago Bears in London, England. Earnest Graham filled in respectably in Blount’s absence in last week’s win over New Orleans, rushing for 109 yards on 17 carries. Josh Freeman had 41 pass attempts and a season-high 303 passing yards last week, and will once again be called upon to carry the load on offense. Tampa Bay is +1.0 at Bovada.

Sam Bradford a game-time decision at Dallas

Sam Bradford was originally doubtful for Sunday with a high-ankle sprain, then probable as he announced he’d play, but now back to doubtful after missing practice. A.J. Feeley is set to start if Bradford can’t go. Even with Bradford in, St. Louis is 0-5 SU and ATS this season. St. Louis is a 13.5-point underdog on the road against the Cowboys.

Sebastian Janikowski doubtful

After Carson Palmer dominated the headlines all week (and reports today suggest he may not start Sunday, after all), a left hamstring injury to kicker Sebastian Janikowski reported late in the week has potentially dealt a big blow to the Raiders. Janikowski is 12 for 13 on field goal attempts this season. Oakland is still a 4-point favorite at home against Kansas City.
