Tennessee News & Notes

The Titans offense has evolved into one of the most efficient and effective units in the league. Tennessee ranks tied for fifth in yards per play, averaging 5.9 yards, and has committed just five turnovers through 10 games to lead the NFL. That kind of efficiency makes the Titans tough to defend as they are capable of scoring quickly and protecting a lead with their six-foot-three, 247-pound running back.

Derrick Henry tops the league in rushing through 10 games as the Pro Bowl behemoth now has 1,079 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Henry rushed 19 times for 103 yards two weeks ago against the Colts, a commendable feat as the Colts have given up the third-fewest rushing yards per attempt this year (3.5).

Indianapolis News & Notes

Although the defense gets much of the credit for the team’s success, the Colts offense has been quite strong this season. The Colts have scored the 10th-most points despite mediocre rankings in most major passing and rushing categories.

For the most part, the Colts have been producing by committee as they have seven players with more than 200 receiving yards but none over 400. Zach Pascal is the team’s leading receiver with a modest 31 receptions for 384 yards and two touchdowns.

The defense has truly been the engine that drives the team and it may be the top unit in professional football. The Colts have allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards and third-fewest rushing yards and have forced the fifth-most turnovers. As well, opposing teams have the worst starting field position against the Colts. Opponents are starting drives, on average, at their 24.4-yard line.

Betting Pick: OVER 49.5

Despite the potency of the Colts defense, the Titans are strong enough on offense to keep the score high. As well, the Colts offense has found a groove, scoring more than 30 points in four of the last five games. They should have no trouble doing that again this week at home.
