Zach Wilson and the Jets are home underdogs in NFL betting odds going up against the Titans on Sunday.

Jets Try To Get Offense Going Against Titans

New York (0-3 SU, 0-3 ATS) has scored just two touchdowns in its first three games, going UNDER the total in each of them. But the Jets might be able to move the ball a bit easier against Tennessee (2-1, 2-1), which has gone OVER in seven of its last eight road contests.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Oddsmakers are having a difficult time writing much action on the Jets these days, prompting them to move this line over a touchdown to Titans -7.5 as of Monday night. The total had dropped to 46 by the time of writing and could continue to plummet with New York averaging less than seven points per game this season.

Tennessee News & Notes

Winning the turnover battle was key to the Titans’ first-place finish in the AFC South last season, but history has yet to repeat itself this year. Tennessee has just one takeaway through three games and is minus-6 in turnover ratio, the second-worst mark in the NFL. It almost cost them Sunday against the Colts, when the Titans survived three giveaways — two of them in the red zone — to beat Indianapolis 25-16.

Tennessee’s maligned defense stepped up last week by holding Indy to field goals on two of its three trips inside the Titans’ 10-yard line and also held the Colts to three-for-12 on third down. However, the defense lost rookie outside linebacker Rashad Weaver in the third quarter to a foot injury that is expected to keep him out for several games.

The Titans could also be without A.J. Brown this week after the star wideout hurt his hamstring early in the win over Indianapolis. Without Brown available, quarterback Ryan Tannehill distributed the ball to nine different receivers, including three completions to workhorse running back Derrick Henry. Through three games, Henry already has 12 receptions — seven short of his career high for a season.

New York News & Notes

With a rookie quarterback, a young offensive line and an inexperienced offensive coordinator, the Jets were hardly expected to light up the scoreboard this season. But not many could have projected their offense would be this bad, either. New York is averaging just 6.7 points per game and ranks 29th in rushing, 30th in passing and total yards, and third-worst in turnovers.

Maybe things will get better against Tennessee’s defense, the weakest stop unit the Jets have faced after Sportsbook the year against the Panthers, Patriots and Broncos. But the injury bug isn’t doing New York any favors these days, with rookie receiver Elijah Moore in concussion protocol, veteran receiver Jamison Crowder uncertain with a groin injury and tight end Tyler Kroft day to day with a sore chest.

If the offensive line can’t buy more time for Zach Wilson, it might not even matter which weapons the rookie pivot has at his disposal. Wilson has been sacked 15 times and hit 25 more times through his first three games. The Jets went UNDER the total in each of those contests and have stayed below the number in six of their last seven dating back to last season.

Staff Betting Pick: Jets +7.5

The Titans have shown a tendency to play down to their competition and their defense can’t be trusted to lay more than a touchdown on the road against anybody — even the Jets.
