Thursday Night Football Player Prop Bet Picks: Panthers vs Eagles 2017 Season

Week 6’s Thursday night matchup features two teams trending upward as midseason approaches. The Carolina Panthers (-3) improved to 4-1 after back-to-back road wins at New England and Detroit. Cam Newton has flipped the script on his sluggish start to the season. He’s averaged 335 pass yards per game with seven total touchdowns (1 rush) over the past two weeks.

The Eagles (+135) improved to 4-1 after quarterback Carson Wentz carved up the Arizona Cardinals secondary to the tune of 300+ yards and four touchdowns.

Cam Newton Total Pass Yards O/U 260 ½
The Bet: OVER (-125)

The Eagles secondary is atrocious against the pass as they’ve allowed 283 yards per game this season and 335 pass yards per game over the past three. With Cam expanding his vision to all targets on the field – Ed Dickson, Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess – Newton should drill this OVER.

Carson Wentz Total Pass TD O/U 1 ½
The Bet: UNDER (+125)

Offensive lineman Lane Johnson is OUT tonight with a concussion. According to NFL analyst Adam Levitan, Carson Wentz’s splits indicate the quarterback was much better with Johnson active last season – 64.8% completions, 6.95 YPA, 10:2 TD-to-INT, 5-1 record than inactive – 61.2%, 5.87 YPA, 6:12, 2-8. Carolina has 17 sacks on the season. So, they’re already getting to the quarterback. The Giants – ranked 29th against the pass - held Wentz under 200 passing yards with one touchdown just a few weeks ago.

Carson Wentz Total Rush Yards O/U 12 ½
The Bet: OVER (-125)

RE: Johnson OUT
That line will collapse, the pass rush will come and I could see Wentz breaking one or two decent runs as he has in the past. He’s averaged nearly 16 rush yards per game over the past three. Wentz rushed for 55 yards against Kansas City.

Jonathan Stewart Total Rush Yards O/U 50 ½
The Bet: OVER (-125)

This comes with some risk as J-Stew’s season average of 3.3 yards per carry is a career low. However, he’s not losing rush attempts to rookie Christian McCaffrey (yet) and carried the ball 18 times last week. Look for Stewart to hit the OVER In the fourth with the Panthers milking clock.

Zach Ertz Total Receptions O/U 5 ½
The Bet: UNDER (+110)

The Panthers have held opposing tight ends to 5, 3, 2, 4 & 3 TOTAL receptions through the first five games. Wentz’s splits without Johnson at right tackle have me thinking there is a trickle-down impact in all phases of the Eagles offense and that includes the QB’s favorite targets.
