  • The sky is falling in Dallas, but the Cowboys can still win the NFC East with a victory over the Redskins and an Eagles loss to the Giants. Washington has lost nine straight division games and could be without rookie QB Dwayne Haskins.

    Sportsbook Odds Analysis

    Dallas’ must-win situation appears to be factored into this betting line. Washington was +7.5 on the look-ahead lines last Wednesday but opened as an 11-point dog on Sunday evening. The Redskins and the UNDER have both seen early support, dropping to 10.5 and 44, respectively, by Monday morning.

    Just when Dwayne Haskins was playing his best football of the season, the Redskins’ rookie QB suffered a sprained ankle last week against the Giants that forced him out of the game. Technically, it may have actually been ’Skins owner Daniel Snyder who forced Haskins out of the game, reportedly coming down from his private box to tell his prized pivot not to play through the injury.

    Haskins, who has completed 31 of 43 passes for 394 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions over his last six quarters of action, told reporters following the 41-35 OT loss to New York that he hoped to suit up against Dallas. But with the Redskins in position to lock up the second overall pick in the draft with a loss this week, don’t be surprised if Snyder and the team keep Haskins on the bench once again.

    If Haskins does sit out, Washington would likely start Case Keenum, who came in off the bench last week to lead three second-half touchdown drives. Washington overcame a 28-14 fourth-quarter deficit to tie the game with 29 seconds remaining in regulation before allowing the Giants to score a TD on their Sportsbook possession of overtime.

    New York’s Daniel Jones threw for 352 yards and five touchdown passes against a Washington secondary that was without its top three cornerbacks due to injury.

    Dallas News & Notes

    The Cowboys’ maddening inconsistency continued last week in their 17-9 loss at Philadelphia, which came on the heels of an impressive 44-21 rout of the Rams the previous week. Dallas has not won consecutive games since early November, following up each of its last two victories with lackluster nine-point performances against the Patriots and Eagles.

    Playing through an injury to his throwing shoulder that kept him out of practice the previous week, Dak Prescott was just 25-for-44 for 265 yards. He didn’t get much support from the running game, which generated just 47 yards on 15 carries by Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.

    If there’s a silver lining for Cowboys fans right now, it’s how their team has responded when everyone has written them off. Dallas followed up a 24-22 loss to the Jets with a 37-10 pounding of Philadelphia in October, then beat the Rams by 23 points as home underdogs a couple of weeks ago.

    They’ve also dominated NFC East opponents at home over the last two years, going 6-0 SU and ATS in their last six.

    All of the pressure is on the underachieving Cowboys, and the Redskins would love to play spoiler against their hated rivals.
