NFL Week 12 Picks and Trends

Week 12 NFL Betting Picks, Trends and Stats Primer

A few weeks ago I wrote about how underdogs are covering at an unprecedented rate and that if history was an indication, they were due for some regression. Well, that regression hasn’t happened as underdogs are coming off three straight winning weeks.

Entering Week 12, their record stands at 83-68-8 (54.9%). This is significant as underdogs hit at just 49.7 percent over the five-year stretch from 2013 to 2017 with the best single-year record coming in 2015 at 53.9 percent and the worst coming in 2013 at 47.3 percent.

So, what does all this mean with six weeks remaining in the regular season? I still believe that 54.9 percent mark will begin to drop. It’s not guaranteed — nothing is sports betting is — but when you consider that favorites have only come out on top in three of the 11 weeks so far, it makes sense that things could start to even out. As a result, this means more favorites should cover down the stretch.

Let’s get down to business...
