Week 16 NFL Computer Picks

So much for the computer getting better as the season progresses – a 7-9 ATS mark in Week 15 has the math wizards questioning their formulas.

Favorites went 10-6 ATS on the week, but some of the important underdogs won, including the 49ers over the Patriots on Sunday night. The computer did better (like it did last week) in picking totals, as it went 10-6 in picking over unders.

Week 16 computer picks kick off with another road win on Thursday night with a 32-20 prediction for the Atlanta Falcons over the host Detroit Lions. The home team opened as 3-point underdogs at most sportsbooks.

The computer picks a one-point game in the Monday Nighter as the 49ers are picked to squeak past Seattle. If they do, the NFC West crown is theirs. If Seattle wins (and they often do at home), they retain a shot at the division crown next week.

A couple of big underdogs are picked to cover spreads in Week 16, including the Cleveland Browns, who are 13-point pups at Denver. They will lose, but the final score will be a Browns cover if the computer is correct.

Same story in Houston where the Texans will win, but will fail to cover nine points against the Vikings. Minnesota is motivated to grab a Wild Card spot and will ride MVP candidate Adrian Peterson.

Carolina is also favored big, by 9.5 points against visiting Oakland. The 21-13 predicted final would allow the Raiders to cover.
