Week 3 NFL Live Odds Update

Games may only be played on Sundays and Mondays, but handicapping the NFL is a full-time job. Staying on top of injuries, suspensions, weather, and all the other factors that go into the games each week requires attention all week long.

Here is a recap of some late news this week to get you up to date heading into the weekend.

Mike Vick set to play Sunday

In easily the biggest news of the day Friday, Mike Vick was cleared to play, and says he’ll be ready to go coming off of the concussion in last week’s game against Atlanta. Vince Young was also upgraded to probable with his hamstring injury, so he’ll be available as the backup. With news of Vick’s good health, Philadelphia is a big 9-point home favorite at Bovada over New York.

Raiders will get some weapons back in the passing game

Oakland fell just short in a 38-35 loss last week, but Jason Campbell had a surprisingly strong day through the air with 323 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Raiders were without their top three wide receivers in Darrius Heyward Bey, Jacoby Ford, and Louis Murphy and their starting tight end Kevin Boss.

They get both Boss and Heyward-Bey back this week, and can use all the help they can get as a 3.5-point home underdog at TopBet against the New York Jets’ stingy pass defense.

Arian Foster downgraded to doubtful

Houston has done fine without their star tailback, starting the season off 2-0 with two double-digit wins. But on the road against New Orleans, being at full strength would have been helpful; but they’ll have to make do without him. New Orleans is a 4-point favorite at BetOnline.

Rain and wind could play a role in Tennessee

Scattered rains and winds of up to 13 mph could put a hamper on the passing game when Denver visits Tennessee Sunday. Knowshon Moreno and Chris Johnson will likely get plenty of carries as a result. With the total currently set at 42.5 at 5Dimes, the UNDER may be the play here.
