Who Is Going To Be The Broncos’ Starting QB Next Season?

The Denver Broncos’ quarterback depth chart might as well be a GIF of a garbage fire. The trio of Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler have combined to throw 17 touchdowns to 20 interceptions on the season.

This has Broncos fans wondering what the future holds for the position. Sportsbooks are wondering similar things with odds being released by Bovada concerning who will be the starting signal-caller for Game 1 of the Broncos’ 2018 season.

Of the three quarterbacks currently on the roster, Osweiler is a small +200 favorite. I’m not exactly sure why, as all of his per game averages are basically the same as those of Siemian, who started the bulk of the season for the Broncos.

The highest potential belongs to Lynch, who was drafted in the first round just two years ago. However, the six-foot-seven QB has thrown a grand total of 97 passes in two seasons while dealing with injuries.

Books think it is more likely that the Broncos go in a different direction with literally any other quarterback aside from the above-mentioned trio starting listed at EVEN.

The free-agent market for quarterbacks this offseason is incredibly top-heavy with Drew Brees and Kirk Cousins both unrestricted free agents. However, if the Broncos can’t persuade either of those guys to go to Denver, they could be turning to the likes of Sam Bradford, Josh McCown or Case Keenum.

The Broncos could theoretically select a quarterback in the upcoming draft with the current coaching staff not invested in Lynch – he was drafted a year before Vance Joseph was brought in as head coach. But there are very few quarterbacks in the draft who are plug-and-play. Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen are the closest bets but neither has officially declared and both would likely go long before the Broncos pick.

Either way, the Broncos will need to fix an offensive line that is subpar at pass blocking for whoever is under center or else it will not matter in the slightest.
