Aside from just being downright fun to watch, scoring a bunch of points goes a long way to a sustained playoff run in the NFL. Four of the past five teams that ended the regular season with the best offense in the NFL have made the playoffs – we excuse the 2014 New Orleans Saints because their defense always sucks.

With the NFL season quickly approaching we need to start asking – well we don’t need to, but we don’t have a lot of sports going on during the summer months – which team will be lighting up scoreboards the most this upcoming year. And of course, if we are talking about it, we may as well be betting on it.

The Seattle Seahawks open as +650 favorites to be the highest scoring team in football this upcoming season at Bet365. The Seahawks were tied for the fourth-highest scoring team in football last season, with the ‘Hawks averaging 26.4 points per game. Seattle has seen little turnover in that offense as well, with the only notable player leaving the offense coming in the form of Marshawn Lynch – which shouldn’t be too severe with Thomas Rawls in the backfield.

Close behind the Seahawks is last season’s top-scoring offense in the Carolina Panthers at +700. The Panthers averaged a whopping 31.2 ppg last season, despite a wide receiving unit that was lacking options. However, Carolina will have Kelvin Benjamin back – who tallied 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns in his rookie year – after he missed all of last season with a torn ACL.

If there is one dark horse that offers some intriguing value to me, it’s the New York Giants. I can hear the groans through the screen now, but hear me out. The Giants finished with the sixth-highest scoring offense last season and they have some (sort of) new life in the locker room with Ben McAdoo being promoted to the head coach. On top of that, Eli Manning has now put together back-to-back seasons with 30-plus touchdowns and at least 4,400 yards passing. The Giants also have the perk of playing the Cowboys, Redskins and Eagles twice per season – all of who finished 17th or worst in team defense last season.
