February 25th NHL Picks
Taking the above trends alongside some more in-depth handicapping, here are two picks I'm focused on for tonight's NHL games:
Buffalo's Owen Power OVER 1.5 shots (-155 at Sportsbook)
Owen Power is peppering the net right now. In the last four games, Power is averaging four shots a game. He's gone OVER 1.5 SOG in eight-straight games and six-straight home games.
Power and the Sabres also face a Ducks team that struggles to suppress shots. They allow the most shots in the NHL per game (32.2) and the second-most SOG to opposing defensemen (9.43).
Leafs' John Tavares OVER 0.5 points (-154 at Sportsbook)
John Tavares is on a heater. He has three points in two games since the 4 Nations Face-Off and six points in his last six contests, overall. JT has been particularly strong against weak defenses (obviously), tallying a point in six-straight games against bottom-10 defensive teams.
The Bruins have allowed the ninth-most goals this year year, overall, but they've been even worse against centers like Tavares, allowing the fifth-most goals per game to the position (1.50).
