Senators are Somehow Still a Moneyline Underdog for Game 5

Another day and another game where the Senators are the moneyline underdogs. Books have been taking a bath all series long on the Sens so people must be hammering the Bruins moneyline. If they weren’t, Ottawa would be favored tonight. The Sens put on a masterful performance in a 1-0 Game 4 victory and they’ll be throwing everything at the B’s on Friday night in an attempt to put this series away in front of their home fans.

SHARK BITES
  • The Bruins are 1-9 SU and on the puckline in their last 10 games against the Senators.
  • Craig Anderson has a 7-1 record and .933 save percentage against Boston this season, including playoffs.
  • The Senators are 8-2 SU in their last 10 home games against the Bruins.

I feel for anyone who’s been suckered into betting on the Bruins this series. They’ve been dominated at every turn and if it weren’t for a late goal scored on their first shot in 26 minutes in Game 1, this series would already be over. Boston has managed just 42 total shots in the last two games (17 less than Ottawa) and Tuukka Rask has had to stand on his head to keep the B’s alive.

That being said, Craig Anderson has made some miraculous saves himself and the ones that come to mind immediately are the two he made on Brad Marchand at the end of Game 4 (depicted in the header) where he sprawled himself over the goal line to keep the game-tying puck out of the Sens’ net.

As long as I’m getting value on a team led by Erik Karlsson, I’ll be betting them until the Fjall (Swedish cows) come home. When I began writing this article, the Sens were +105 on the moneyline. As I finished up, however, they’d already moved to +110 and I suspect that this line will be on the move all day. Check in close to puckdrop as that’s when we’ve been seeing the most dramatic line shifts in Ottawa’s favor.
