Boston News & Notes

After starting out as one of the hottest teams in the league, the Bruins have fallen back to the pack a bit and find themselves second in the East Division and having lost four of their last five games.

Boston has now given up more goals than they’ve scored and given up more high danger chances than they’ve created at even strength, ranking 20th in goals for percentage and 21st in high danger chances for percentage. We know how strong the top line for the Bruins is, but the team has devolved into mostly a one-line team as only two forwards not on the top line have more than eight points through 18 games.

The once stellar goaltending tandem has also slipped a bit lately as Tuukka Rask now sports a .892 save percentage this season and Jaroslav Halak is down to a .903. Sunday’s starter has not yet been announced.

New York News & Notes

It has not been a great start to the season for the Rangers and despite winning three of their last four games still find themselves sixth in the East Division.

It does not help that leading scorer and top player Artemi Panarin is away from the team indefinitely as he was recently the target of Russian political intimidation. The Rangers are also without 2019 top pick Kaapo Kakko, top defenseman Jacob Trouba and forward Filip Chytil.

With the absences piling up, it may be hard to see the Rangers keeping up with the Bruins, but the Rangers do have a better high danger scoring chance percentage than Boston this season and had more shots, overall scoring chances and high danger scoring chances at even strength than the Bruins on Friday.

In net, the Rangers have gone with a tandem of Alexandar Georgiev and Igor Shesterkin. Shesterkin has put up the better numbers this season with a 4-6-1 record and .919 save percentage.

Betting Pick: Rangers +145

Despite the Rangers missing a couple key players, they have been playing better than Boston lately and beat up on them on Friday night. +145 is a very tempting number to bet, so we like the Rangers.
