Flames have not been a great road bet vs Blackhawks

The Calgary Flames will try to keep up their hot streak on the road when they face off vs the Chicago Blackhawks tonight. The Flames downed the Blackhawks 4-3 over the weekend and broke a six-game losing streak in the process. Calgary is 4-1 SU in its last five road games and opened as a slight dog to get the W.

  • The Blackhawks are 6-1 SU and ATS in their last seven games with two days off between games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in seven of the Flames’ last 10 games after a win.
  • Chicago is 16-3 SU in its last 19 games at home vs Calgary.

The Blackhawks have been a mess lately as they’re 1-5 SU in their last six games at home and it may have to do with goaltender Corey Crawford’s injury. Since Chicago’s netminder was put on IR on December 23, the ’Hawks are 7-11 SU and have dropped out of the Western Conference playoff standings.

If bettors are planning to back Chicago tonight, they should note that the Blackhawks have won three of their last four home games vs Calgary and outscored them 13-6 in those games.

This will be the third and final game between the Flames and Blackhawks this season with Calgary winning both prior games 4-3. The Flames are about to embark on a six-game road trip and that may be fine with them as they’ve only lost five games in regulation in 23 road games this season.

Calgary’s defense on the road has been stellar as the team is allowing only 2.39 goals per game and that will be vital to stopping the Blackhawks offense, which is averaging three goals per game at home.

The total opened at 5.5 and the OVER may be the profitable angle to take in this matchup. The OVER has hit both times these teams have met this season and the OVER has hit in four of the Flames’ last five games.
