Caps vs. Flyers: Betting Lines

Philadelphia is two points up on Washington in the race for the Eastern Conference, and the Flyers will be -170 home favorites for their Tuesday night matchup with the Capitals in NHL betting action.

Washington (+150 at Sportsbook) has had great success against the Flyers, but if they are going to catch them for the Eastern Conference title they will have to do so without superstar Alex Ovechkin, who is sidelined with an undisclosed injury.

The Flyers score an average of 3.21 goals per game, and while the Capitals allow the third fewest goals per game, injuries could cost them a chance at the top seed for the conference playoffs. [ Matchup Report ]

If the Flyers are to add distance between themselves and the Capitals, they will have to find a way to shut down a Washington power play that has gone 35 percent in 10 meetings against the Flyers.

Philadelphia has won two of three against Washington this season, including their only tilt in the City of Brotherly Love. Without Ovechkin and stud defenseman Mike Green, the Capitals will suffer and that should make the Flyers the more popular choice on the NHL betting lines for this contest.

With a combined 92 of 144 games involving these teams paying UNDER bettors in totals wagering this season, one should expect a ton of betting action in favor of the UNDER bet once more.

It will be a pivotal matchup between division rivals Anaheim and Dallas in Wednesday night NHL betting action with the Stars likely favorites at home at the American Airlines Center.

The teams are jockeying for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference and the Sportsbook could find themselves as high as fifth in the hotly-contested West. Anaheim has won three of four head-to-head this season and could very well test the Stars as a road underdog.

Dallas, meanwhile, is one of the better home teams at 20-11-7. Anaheim is just 17-15-3 on the road this season and the edge could go to the Stars on the NHL betting lines at Sportsbook. Dallas is just 17-16 as a favorite, while the Ducks relish the underdog role – winning 21 times for backers on the NHL betting lines.

These teams normally find themselves in low-scoring affairs, but three of the last four between them have paid out to OVER bettors in totals wagering.
