Oilers can Finish Series in San Jose This Evening

With all the momentum in the series after coming back and beating the Sharks in Game 5 overtime, the Oilers can end the series tonight with a second win on San Jose’s home ice. Oddsmakers are not so sure they can do that, however, as they’ve pegged Edmonton as a +130 underdog. That said, moneyline underdogs are 17-20 straight up in these playoffs while puckline dogs are an astounding 31-6 – meaning that games, for the most part, have been really close.

SHARK BITES
  • The Oilers are 7-3 SU and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games on the road against teams with winning records.
  • Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid both had Corsi for percentages over 66 in Game 5.
  • The Oilers are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games against the Sharks.

Todd McLellan looks like a genious after pairing up Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in Game 5. The two were magic together, combining for three assists and skating circles around the Sharks all night. If the two natural centermen can have another night like they did Thursday, this series is over. Draisaitl, the German wunderkind, set up Desharnais’ overtime Sportsbook and had several dangerous attempts on net. He hasn’t scored yet this series but I suspect he breaks that seal at the Shark Tank tonight. Sportsbook is offering a +225 line for Leon to get one in Game 6 – take that line.

As far the moneyline’s concerned, I’m staying away. It’s been a coin flip whether or not Cam Talbot shows up in this series and with 78 games now under his belt this year, he’s probably just a bit fatigued. The last two games in this best-of-seven have gone OVER – easily – and I like this one to do the same. Both offenses have found their groove and are firing on all cylinders after respective slow starts to the series.

OVER 5 can be had around EVEN and considering how good both teams’ forwards looked last contest, that seems like incredible value.
