Hurricanes vs Stars Preview - January 21

Hurricanes vs Stars Odds & Picks: Dallas Will Dominate Unrest Carolina

Eastern and Western powerhouses clash at the American Airlines Center with the Carolina Hurricanes vs Dallas Stars, while books are far from certain on the outcome making the Stars slim -130 home favorites, I'm sure the Stars who've dominated unrested teams traveling to big D will come away with the win.

Hurricanes vs Stars Picks

Dallas Stars ML (-130) at Sportsbook

The Hurricanes stink on the road. Over their last 13 road games, they've gone 3-10SU, but two of those wins came in overtime, including last night's 4-3 win over the terrible Blackhawks. So when you think about it, the Canes were two shots away from going 1-12SU in their last 13 road games. Pathetic. And there's no singular reason for that poor road form, both Carolina's offense and defense are having issues scoring 0.8 fewer goals per road game and allowing an extra 0.63 goals per road game.

It gets worse for this bunch of jerks. As I mentioned, the Hurricanes played last night in Chicago and are traveling to Dallas for tonight's game. In that context, the Canes are 0-4SU on the season! And they shouldn't expect the Dallas Stars to go easy on them, Dallas is a perfect 10-0SU in their last 10 games when their opponent is traveling to the American Airlines Center on no rest.

Dallas looks like Stanley Cup contenders of late with a 9-3SU record over its last 12 games outscoring opponents 41-27. Jason Robertson has returned to his old self in this recent 12-game run scoring eight goals and 19 points, an average of 1.6 points per game. You can get OVER 0.5 points for Robertson at -215 odds from Sportsbook.

I get that the books have to respect Carolina's third-best record in the Eastern Conference, but getting the Dallas Stars at -130 in the context of this game feels like highway robbery.

Hurricanes vs Stars Player Prop

Seth Jarvis O2.5 SOG (+139) at Sportsbook

Per Outlier, Seth Jarvis has exceeded 2.5 shots on goal in four of his last five games, averaging 3.0 shots. While I believe Carolina will lose, they'll still get plenty of shots.

Jarvis SOG - Jan 21

The Stars have been letting lots of shots hit their net of late with 70 shots allowed in their last two games. Those two games came against two teams that aren't currently known for shooting, the Avalanche and Red Wings who rank 21st and 18th for 5on5 shots in the league's last 10 games. In that same period, the Hurricanes rank second for 5on5 shots with Seth Jarvis getting the third-most shots on the team with 27.
