Is Tonight a Bad Schedule Spot for the Blackhawks?

Beginning their season 3-0-1, the Blackhawks might be better than I gave them credit for. They’ve been scoring goals at will and they’ve been doing a decent job keeping them out at the other end (+3.50 goal differential). The Wild will give them their first division test of the year but Minnesota has started its campaign winless and the ’Hawks have won three straight games in this matchup.

SHARK BITES
  • The Blackhawks were 19-10 SU against the Central Division last season.
  • The Wild are 5-13 SU in their last 18 games on the road against the Blackhawks.
  • The Blackhawks and Wild have a combined 5-1 OVER/UNDER record this season.

All that said, the Wild could be a decent play as an underdog this evening. The Blackhawks have been outshot by a wide margin thus far and if it weren’t for Corey Crawford playing out of his mind through three starts (.971 save percentage), Chicago could easily have just one win.

Minnesota will be without forwards Mikael Granlund and Zach Parise for the contest and while that hurts them up front, Bruce Boudreau’s system is designed so that all four lines can contribute offensively. The Wild have the depth advantage tonight against a team that’s played two more games this season and Minny has been off since October 7.

This feels like a good schedule spot for the Wild and their value makes them attractive on the moneyline.
