Blues are Now Overwhelming Favorites to Win Series With Wild

Down 2-0 and heading to St. Louis for Game 3 of their first-round series with the Blues, the Wild are in serious trouble. Since the 2004-05 lockout, teams that have gone down two games to none have come back to win the series just 13 times in 88 instances. Nobody, but a select few, gave the Blues a chance in this series when the matchup was announced but with a -290 price to finish the job after winning Game 1 and 2 – the script has very quickly been flipped on its head.

SHARK BITES
  • The Wild are 2-7 SU in their last 9 games against the Blues and 0-3 on the puckline in their last 3.
  • Devan Dubnyk now has a career .898 save percentage in the playoffs.
  • The Wild are 2-6 SU and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games on the road.

Chances have been a little hard to come by for the Blues in this series but with four goals on 48 shots so far, they’ve taken advantage of their rare opportunities. My point here being that the Wild will be a desperate team this afternoon, forgoing some of their defensive responsibilities to push the issue at the other end. I think this leads to a higher scoring game than we’re used to seeing from these two incredibly tight teams and considering some of the score lines we saw last night – the UNDER trend seems to be leveling out.

For those looking for some help deciding on a moneyline bet in this matinee, consider a bet on the Blues as the home underdog. They’ve won seven of their last nine games at the Scottrade Center and going back to Minnesota with a 2-1 lead is not a situation Mike Yeo will be thrilled with.

Hopefully, you listened to me and got on the Blues before the series started as they were being offered as a +160 or better underdog at most books.
