Preds Aim to Grab 3-1 Series Lead vs Stars

The opening-round series between the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars continues with Game 4 going from American Airlines Arena. Dallas drew first blood with a victory in the opener, but Nashville has stormed back with two wins of its own to carry a 2-1 series lead into Game 4. The Stars are favored at -130 to even the series, with the Preds coming back at +110 and the total opening at 5 goals.

Predators vs Stars Game Center

Standout Stats

  • This series has been a battle between goaltenders as neither team has won by more than one goal and there have been just 13 total goals scored, with one game going into overtime.
  • The total has been set at 5 for each of the three games thus far and they have pushed that total twice and went UNDER in Game 2.
  • Nashville is having massive issues on the power play through the first three games of the series, failing to score on eight attempts, though Dallas was fairly disciplined in taking only one penalty in Game 3. The Stars power play hasn’t been clicking either, managing to get just one shot past Pekka Rinne in 13 opportunities with the man advantage.
  • Dallas had an incredible tempo in Game 3 that led to four power-play opportunities and the Stars outhit the Predators 42-23 and outshot them 42-28, but still fell 3-2. The Stars need to bring that same energy in tonight’s game or they could be facing an uphill battle when the series shifts back to Bridgestone Arena.
  • Pekka Rinne has been brilliant between the pipes for Nashville, sporting a 1.98 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage. Not to overlook Ben Bishop, who has been strong in his own right, holding a 2.30 GAA and a .931 save percentage.
  • The turnover battle has been an interesting one as well with Nashville coughing up the puck 39 times, while Dallas has committed 28 giveaways.

My Best Bet for Nashville vs Dallas Game 4

Both goalies are – and have been – playing top-notch and have proven extremely hard to beat. Additionally, neither team is capitalizing on extra-man opportunities and I anticipate that to continue in tonight’s game. Dallas looked really good in Game 3, controlling the pace and really feeding off the home crowd, which I expect to happen again in Game 4.
