Rangers vs Hurricanes Odds & Betting: Rangers Searching For Third Win In A Row

The home team has won every game in the second-round series between the Carolina Hurricanes (60-25-8) and New York Rangers (58-27-8). New York, though, is looking to buck that trend and has all the momentum after evening the series at 2-2 with a pair of wins in the Big Apple, which could influence the Rangers vs Hurricanes prediction.

Zibanejad Continues To Find Success

Andrew Copp had a goal and two assists and three other Rangers had two points apiece as New York downed Carolina 4-1 in Game 4. Mika Zibanejad, who leads the team with 14 points in the playoffs, scored once and now has three points in his last two games after being held off the scoresheet in Raleigh.

The Blueshirts’ sweep in New York extended the streak of home teams picking up wins in this series. However, they managed to do so in dominant fashion and should be confident about reversing that trend by securing a road win to further swing the momentum in their favor.

Netminder Igor Shesterkin has allowed only one goal in each of his last two games. All four games in this series have gone UNDER the total of 5.5 goals, something bettors should take into account in making their Rangers vs Hurricanes pick.

Aho Desperately Needs Help With Production

Although they’ve suffered two consecutive losses, the Hurricanes are obviously still very much in this series and return home where they’ve won eight in a row dating back to the regular season. They have had the edge in areas such as shots on goal and expected goals but just can’t seem to solve Igor Shesterkin.

His Carolina counterpart, Antti Raanta, has a goals-against average of 1.86 that’s one of the best in the playoffs as he continues to carry the load filling in for the injured Frederik Andersen.

Unfortunately, it’s Carolina’s offense that has failed to find success. Even at home in Games 1 and 2, the team managed only two goals each night. Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen have four and three points respectively in the series but the Canes need more production from the entire lineup.

Rangers vs Hurricanes Pick & Insights

Rangers: Keys To Victory

The Rangers’ physicality was a huge factor at home. They finished with 13 more hits than Carolina in Game 4 and must take that intensity on the road in Game 5. New York has kept Carolina’s high-quality scoring opportunities to a minimum and the low-scoring series is working in the Rangers’ favor as they have been the ones to find the breakthroughs at 5-on-5.

Hurricanes: Keys To Victory

The Canes are now 0-for-9 with the man advantage in this series. They won 65 percent of the faceoffs in Game 4 but they are wasting that advantage by not punishing New York on the power play. Carolina has the edge in expected goals but lacks the goals to show for it. Luckily, PNC Arena has been where it all comes together for the Canes, so those positive characteristics could shine through in Game 5.
