Rangers vs Flyers Odds & Prediction: New York Big Favorite Over Fading Flyers

Both teams are coming off disappointing losses last night, though in much different circumstances. See below for a Rangers vs Flyers prediction, as well as more insight and analysis.

Rangers vs Flyers Odds & Analysis

Sportsbook Odds

I hope you are sitting down for this one – the Rangers are heavy favorites over the Flyers. Yes, it’s true. But while New York is miles ahead of Philly in the standings, the Flyers have won 13 of the last 20 head-to-head meetings. The total opened at 5.5, but after Philadelphia gave up nine goals last night, bettors jumped on the OVER, pushing that number to 6 on most sites.

Rangers Continue Their Push For Playoff Positioning

The Blueshirts suffered a setback last night in their quest to win the Metropolitan Division title. They lost 4-2 to Carolina, falling four points back of the Canes with just eight games remaining. There is some good news, though – the Penguins lost as well and are five points back of New York for second place. Despite the loss, the Rangers have points in eight of their last 10 games.

Chris Kreider scored vs the Hurricanes, becoming just the fourth player in Rangers history to hit the 50-goal mark in a season. He is currently third in the NHL behind Auston Matthews and Leon Draisaitl.

Artemi Panarin has scorched the Flyers this season, recording two points in each of their three meetings, and has 36 points in 25 career contests vs Philly. You can bet him at +165 to score a goal in tonight’s game.

Alexandar Georgiev, who has won his last five starts, is expected to start in goal.

Flyers Playing Out The Final Stretch

The 2021-22 season has been an absolute mess for the Philadelphia Flyers. They currently own a .390 points percentage, which would be the third-worst mark in franchise history if the season ended today. They were embarrassed last night 9-2 by the Washington Capitals and have won just two of their last nine games.

The Flyers have had trouble scoring goals AND keeping the puck out of their net all season long. They have the third-worst goal differential in the league at -75. Only Montreal and Arizona are worse.

And to make matters worse, both leading scorer Cam Atkinson and goaltender Carter Hart were injured last night. Atkinson’s status is up in the air, while Martin Jones will likely get the call between the pipes. He allowed six goals on 27 shots in relief of Hart in that loss to the Capitals.

Rangers vs Flyers Pick & Insights

Rangers: Keys To Victory

Avoid a letdown. This has all the makings of a trap game following Tuesday’s crucial contest against Carolina. But if the Rangers can play their game and get to Jones, who has allowed three-plus goals in five of his last six appearances, then bettors should cash out if taking the road team when making their Rangers vs Flyers pick.

Flyers: Keys To Victory

Hope, prayers and score with the man advantage. The Flyers are a much inferior team to the Rangers. They have the worst power play in the league and in three games against New York this season have yet to score with the extra man. They could steal two points if they can somehow take advantage with the man advantage.
